  1. LOL! I drew this out by hand on paper before finding this map!

    1. Ah...apparently you didn't find it in your own library! :-)

    1. Just found this, although I'm not totally certain what it is a map of. But I think I will find out soon!

    2. Great! Better to find the map before knowing what it's for than the other way around! :-)

  3. Just wow. I typed out a whole text version of this map before finding it at Nourtheld Castle's Great Library! I'm facepalming pretty hard right now. Any chance this map list will get longer? Also, how was this map made?

    1. This is the only map found in-game. It is a screenshot of a zoomed-out screen in the map making tool used to create game content.

If you are interested in more maps, a few things might be of interest:

*A player did a fork of AppleWin and integrated it with the Grid Cartographer application so that you can have an auto-updating map in the Grid Cartographer window next to the game window. For more information on this, hop on our Discord and hit up @rikkles https://discord.gg/kwcFxVp

*We are working on a Hint Book which will include a full set of maps (much higher quality than the one shown here), which will hopefully be complete in the next few months.

    2. Ah, the auto-updating map sounds fantastic. I like the idea of only seeing maps for places I've already explored.

I remember the old Ultima series have a (P)eer at a Gem! command that would show you a map of your current location. Is there or will there be anything like that?

    3. A function simular to Ultima's (P)eer at a gem was considered but it didn't work out. Now that Nox Archaist has been released, we don't intend to add new features. Software updates will focus on bug fixes.

  4. Ha! Clever bit of integrating a secret clue like this into the game. Almost feels like one of those in-journal clues found in the Gold Box games.

  7. Found it! Once I learned there was supposed to be a map in the Great Library, I wondered how it would be handled once (if!) I found it. Clever! This game has surprised me more than once.

    1. Congrats!

Thanks for the post. I think commenting on this page is like carving your initials in the bookcase when the librarian isn't looking, documenting your discover for all time :-)

  9. Just found the book in Nourtheld Castle where I ended up by accident through a network of caverns. Thank you for Nox Archaist, it is the best game i've played this year, surpassing the likes of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom! Love the atmosphere and the exploration. It's a true hallmark that proves that good games don't require AAA graphics and latest computing power. Cheers to the whole team!

    1. Thanks so much for your compliments! Your journey of discovery for the Depths of Vacous (underworld), finding that you can emerge at other points on the surface is one of the things I was hoping would happen for players. I am glad to hear you are enjoying the game!
