Nox Archaist - Kickstarter to launch in September 2017

At our KansasFest 2017 presentation we announced plans for a Kickstarter campaign to produce a collector's edition of Nox Archaist. The 6502 Workshop team is now pleased to announce that the campaign is scheduled to launch at 10am U.S. Central Time on September 16, 2017.

This is an opportunity to get your hands on all the cool physical stuff we are creating to go along with Nox Archaist.  Our goal is to recapture the hands on gaming experience of the 1980s classics that we grew up with.

The Nox Archaist collector's edition will be available either on floppy disks for real Apple II hardware or on a flash drive for emulators on MAC-PC. The game will also run on real and emulated hard drives with ProDOS installed.  You can choose to receive the game in a box with custom artwork or in an old school plastic bag.

Below you can check out the game box and some of the cool stuff that will be available with Nox Archaist through Kickstarter. The photos show prototypes; there may be a few changes to the the artwork and materials of the final versions.

  2. I'm buying as soon as it's ready. Boxed Edition. Is there any chance the game will support Mockingboard (or dare I ask) Passport MIDI?

    1. Thanks for your interest! Your support is very much appreciated! To answer your questions; mockingboard - maybe. We’re investigating the viability. There are no plans currently to support Passport MIDI.

  3. This is so awesome to hear! I just watched the KansasFest presentation and everything that you're doing is something that I wished existed back when I was playing through Ultima III or IV. This is the game that the Apple II always deserved!

    1. Thanks for taking the time to let us know! We feel the same way. Our approach to the project is to make the RPG we always wanted to play on the Apple II.

  4. I want this game badly! I have ordered my Apple //gs and it is coming in it's way to my home. I want to be the deluxe edition of this game that comes with the box, manual and everything and all the goodies including physical disks. I don't want to use emulators ever for apple //. I have one question to ask. Is it possible it can come in 3.5" disk? I prefer the 3.5" because they are more durable from bending or damages and it is less flipping. If you can fit the entire game in one single 3.5" disk will be superb.

    What do you say?

    Thanks!

    1. Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm! Our Kickstarter campaign is scheduled to launch September 16 which will have a tier for the deluxe edition you describe. The initial release of Nox Archaist will be on 5.25" floppy disk. Support for 3.5" disks would require a special version of the game which we will consider as a future project.

PLEASE STICK THE FAMOUS APPLE LOGO STICKER INTO THE DISK AND MAKE THE DISK commercially closed from the edge so no possible writing is done to it!
