*January 1, 2021; there is a conflict between the ZipGS card and the Floppy Emu when running in Smartport mode, which prevents any hard drive disk images from booting.
**February 7, 2021; some people using IIc+ and Floppy Emu in smartport mode are able to boot Nox Archaist and some are not. We have been able to verify at least some people that cannot boot Nox also cannot boot any disk images on their smartport. If you have a IIc+ and a Floppy Emu and you can boot disk images in smartport mode, there is a good chance Nox Archaist will work.

Is there a reason BMoW’s Floppy Emu isn’t supported on Apple IIe for the game?
ReplyDeleteGood question! According to the Floppy Emu website, it only supports a smartport (for hard drive images) on the Apple IIe if the Apple II has a Liron disk controller. This is not a common card to have in a IIe and we have not had opportunity to test one so we cannot verify compatibility with Nox Archaist.

I assume the same for the ReactiveDriveImage flash card which I own is because it doesn't actually perform hard drive emulation?
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to get in on the Collectors Box set 2 days ago so I will be able to create the floppies once it arrives using ADTPro and play it on my real Apple IIes with Phasor card. Since I made the purchase I also have the downloaded copy with .hdv which I am playing on appleWin but I'd like a way to use it on my real systems. have to find me a Booti some place, ask Chris to bring those back from the retro grave...
I am not that familiar with the ReactiveDriveImage flash card. I am willing to buy and test any card that supports harddrive images and/or 2 virtual floppy ports. However, from your comments it sounds like it does not support harddrive images. Do you know if it supports 2 virtual floppy ports?
DeleteThe BOOTi cards are great, it would be really great to have a steady supply of them.
DeleteI did ask Chris recently about the BOOTi cards and IIRC he said the person in Australia who makes them is waiting on back ordered parts.

DeleteI can confirm that it works just fine using a ReActiveMicro Drive/Turbo in my IIgs! I just copied over the hard drive image via ADT and it boots right up.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, thanks for sharing!
DeleteThe ReActiveMicro Drive/Turbo works fine for me too, on a IIe. Copied the files from the Nox Archaist .HDV over to my CF volume using CiderPress.
DeleteI've copied the file over onto my ReActiveMicro Drive/Turbo using CiderPress but can't get the programme to start on the Apple. I've got all the files from the .HDV image in a directory called NOX. What do I need to do to get it up and running please?

I can confirm NA runs perfect on a iie with the Liron and FloppyEmu, mounting the hdv
ReplyDeleteI just purchased the Collectors Edition. I have a BOOTI card in my IIe. Does this run on the BOOTI card and, if so, does it support save games on it or will I need a floppy disk for that?
ReplyDeleteThank for your support! (this is 6502 Workshop, Google isn't cooperating today, forcing me to comment as "anonymous". Yes. Here is a link to a walkthrough video for running Nox Archaist on a BOOTi card. Saved games are supported on the .HDV files which you'll use on the BOOTi.
